What services do you offer?

At Monki Do we’re happy to do the smallest and simplest tattoos to large and complex designs.
All artists have many years experience in designing custom tattoo or
if you prefer you can bring your own design in.
We offer laser removal at the studio to aid us with cover up and rework projects.

Do I need to book an appointment?

We are a busy studio so an appointment is usually required.
Waiting times for appointments will vary depending on which artist you choose.
We also offer walk-in days throughout the year.

How do I book a consultation and how much does it cost?

Our consultations are free of charge. To book drop us a message, email or call us and we can arrange this for you.

What shall I bring to my consultation?

Please bring with you any ideas and references you have. You will need photo I.D if you’re under 25, i.e. a passport or a driving license.
If you do wish to book an appointment for your tattoo you will need to pay a deposit to confirm your booking,
The deposit amount will vary on the size of your tattoo. When booking your consultation please ask and we can advise you of how much deposit you will be required.

Once booked, can I change my tattoo appointment?

Yes, it is fine to rearrange your tattoo appointment once it is booked, however we will need at least 48 hours notice otherwise your deposit will be forfeited.
When an appointment is rearranged we will try and accommodate the best we can, however there may be a waiting time for available appointment spaces.

Can I cancel my tattoo appointment once it is booked?

Yes, you can cancel your tattoo appointment at any time.
The deposit paid prior to the booking being made is a non- refundable deposit and would be therefore be forfeited when you appointment is cancelled.

Can I change my design after it had been drawn?

We are happy to make minor charges to your design once it has been drawn.
If any major changes to the design are desired then the design process would have to be started again. This would mean a new deposit being paid and there would possibly be a wait to start the tattoo.
Our artists will draw your design to your specifications so please be clear of what you would like/not like during your consultation.

How much will my tattoo cost?

A tattoo is priced on the time it takes it do the tattoo. This is influenced by size, detail, placement and style.
Please contact us with your ideas and we can help you with a quote.

Will my tattoo hurt?

Tattoos as a rule can be uncomfortable and sometimes painful. The level of discomfort will vary depending on the size of the tattoo, the detail and the placement on the body. The discomfort of tattoos are usually bearable and our staff and artists will help where we can to make your experience as comfortable as possible. You’re welcome to have as many breaks as you need during your tattoo.

What shall I bring with me to my tattoo appointment?

We recommend bringing food and drink with you to your appointment although we do provide refreshments throughout the day.
We also recommend wearing suitable clothing so the artist can access the area of your tattoo easily. It is also advised that the clothing worn on the day are not of high regard as ink can sometimes stain clothing and may not always wash out.
We advise our clients to eat prior to having a tattoo and it is strongly advised that no alcohol is consumed at least 24 hours before your tattoo appointment.

Does the studio offer privacy?

We do have a private tattoo room in the studio if you would prefer. Please let us know when booking and we will arrange this for you ready for your appointment date.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Yes, it is absolutely fine to bring someone with you to your tattoo appointment. We do have to limit of one guest per client due to limited space within the studio.
Due to legal requirements we cannot allow anyone under the age of 18 years to accompany you during your tattoo.

Do you offer a skin test for the tattoo inks used?

Yes, we offer a patch test on your skin to test for any potential allergies or reactions to the ink used during the tattoo process.
Although reactions are rare they can occur.
If required, the test will need to be done at least 48 hours before your appointment. Skin tests cost £25.00. Please contact us to book or to find out more information.

Are there any medical conditions that could prevent me from having a tattoo?

There are several medical conditions that can affect the tattoo procedure.
The list below covers all the main conditions but is by no means exhaustive:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Impetigo
  • Psoriasis
  • Epilepsy ( or any other condition that may cause seizures)
  • Cellulitis
  • Eczema
  • Hepatitis A, B, C
  • HIV / AIDS
  • Heart disease or have a pace maker fitted
  • Any MEDICAL condition that could compromise your immune SYSTEM
  • Any allergic responses to latex
  • Blood thinning medicines (e.g. aspirin)
  • ALLERGIC RESPONSES to medical adhesives (e.g medical tape or plasters)

If you are affected by any of these conditions then we would require written consent from your G.P before we can tattoo you.

How old do you have to be to have a tattoo?

The minimum age that you can legally have a tattoo is 18 years of age.
If you are under 25 years of age then photo identification will be required. I.E passport, driving licences.

How can I pay for my tattoo?

We can receive payment by either balance transfer or cash payable at the studio.
Please speak to your artists during your consultation for more information.

Do you offer vegan tattoo?

Yes, upon request we can offer fully vegan tattoos.

How do I look after my tattoo?

Full aftercare instruction and support is given following the completion of your tattoo. We also offer a written form of the aftercare advice for you to take home.
We stock a range of products specifically designed for the aftercare of new tattoo. Our artists will help you choose which aftercare is best suited in aiding the healing of your tattoo.

Does Monki Do do gift vouchers?

Yes, we sell gift vouchers at our main studio. We can write them out for any amount you would like. These are great gifts for someone who is booked in with us or thinking about having a new tattoo.
